Pacific College Job Announcement – Asian Holistic Health and Massage Dept. Chair – NY Campus

Pacific College of Health and Science is hiring for the position of Asian Holistic Health and Massage Department Chair at our New York campus. We are seeking a dynamic faculty member with exceptional communication skills, who has a passion for teaching and whose enthusiasm for the subject matter will be an inspiration to our faculty and students.  

Job Summary:   

The Asian Holistic Health and Massage Department Chair is directly responsible for following college policy and procedures and ensuring faculty do the same in the week-to-week management of departmental activities to include supervising faculty and maintaining educational quality and consistency. The Department Chair will communicate regularly with the Institutional Dean and faculty members in the department to act on important issues at the departmental level.   

The Asian Holistic Health and Massage Department Chair will work closely with the Institutional Dean to develop the department meeting agenda, chair their department meeting, and attend faculty governance meetings (CPR, FPD) each semester.  

Essential Functions:  

  • New faculty recruitment, orientation, and training 
  • Faculty evaluation, mentoring, and faculty development. 
  • Ensuring quality of the curriculum 
  • Maintaining the channels of communications between the College administration and faculty. 
  • Providing departmental student support 
  • Meetings – department, governance, administrative, and office hours 
  • Comprehensive exams support 

Minimum/Required Qualifications:   

  • Associate degree in massage/East Asian Bodywork with relevant state licensure and /or degree relevant to teaching a course in the Massage department.  
  • Live classroom-based teaching experience at an institution of higher education.  
  • Teaching experience at the undergraduate level preferred. 

Desired Qualifications, Education, and Experience:   

  • An extensive teaching resume coupled with a student-centered teaching philosophy. 
  • Experience managing people. 
  • Familiarity with instructional technology 
  • Familiarity with department curriculum and student outcomes.

Salary Expectations: $35.00 per hour; 4 hours/week; 60 hours/term.
