Pacific College Job Announcement – Financial Aid Officer – NY Campus

Pacific College of Health and Science is seeking a dynamic individual for the full-time position of Financial Aid Officer at our New York campus.

*This position is hybrid, with at least 3 days per week required at the New York campus. *

General Job Summary:

The Financial Aid Officer provides excellent customer service in the Financial Aid Office for students. The primary role is to accurately administer and coordinate all federal and state financial aid programs, including compliance with all the laws and regulations associated with federal and state funding programs; counsel students (and parents, if needed) on all aspects of the financial aid process; perform standard financial aid duties such as needs analysis, verification, loan processing and satisfactory academic progress monitoring.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain current knowledge of federal and state financial aid policies, procedures, and programs (Title IV, TAP, etc.).
  • Responsible for staying current with government rules and regulations as it related to federal and state funding.
  • Develop, implement, and revise policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal and state laws, regulations, and policies related to financial aid and scholarships.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding the awarding of institutional scholarships, federal, and state funds and other types of student financial aid.
  • Coordinate interviews with students to obtain information needed to determine eligibility for aid.
  • Counsel and advise students (and parents) regarding financial needs and problems, and recommend financial aid opportunities, academic progress, eligibility, and procedures.
  • Ensure that student data and applications meet established eligibility requirements.
  • Analyze and evaluate financial aid packages.
  • Monitor, approve, and/or revise all financial aid packaging for all qualified applicants in accordance with federal, state, institutional, and other policies, and procedures.
  • Serve as back-up to the Financial Aid Manager with the processing of Return of Title IV Funds processes.
  • Assist Financial Aid Manager in coordination of student loan processing between students, federal government, and the institution.
  • Assist in Title IV refunds and repayments, including U.S. Department of Education and National Student Loan Data System notifications.
  • Complete federal, state, and institutional reports including applications for federal funding and reports the expenditures of funds allocated, such as the FISAP.
  • Assist in reports for reviewing entities, such as audits and program reviews.
  • Develop and conduct financial aid workshops and participate in outreach activities, such as orientation, community outreach, recruitment efforts, financial aid workshops, etc.
  • Assist the Financial Aid Manager design, revise, and update all publications (website, college catalog, and other media) relating to financial aid, such as financial aid applications, e-forms, correspondence forms, and brochures.
  • Provide training and training materials to staff regarding the financial aid process.
  • Develop communication strategies and outreach using social media. Write, design, edit and update all written communication for the Office of Financial Aid.

 Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two years of experience working in Federal Title IV student aid program.
  • Associates degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Ability to review and process financial aid materials.
  • Understanding and ability to generate reports stipulated by the Department of Education (IPEDS, Annual Security, Gainful Employment, Default Rate, etc.)
  • Knowledge of principles, practices, methodology and procedures for the provision of student financial aid.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with a diverse student population/background.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
  • Understanding of customer service principles and needs.
  • Must work well in a team environment.
  • Experience in nursing education preferred

Salary Expectations: $25.50 – $26.92 per hour; Commensurate with experience

Work Environment: The work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing essential functions of the job in a typical office/workstation situation. Able to work sitting or standing at desk and operate a computer using keyboard and reading information on a monitor. This is a hybrid position. Must be able to commute to the New York campus at least three times a week. A dedicated workstation required for remote work.
