San Diego’s ABC 10News interviewed Pacific College President Jack Miller on the school’s new three-semester Medical Cannabis Certificate program, the first of its kind, which enables healthcare professionals to responsibly and effectively prescribe medical marijuana to their patients. The segment aired this morning.
“We thought it was important for health care professionals to have objective information about medical marijuana,” says President Jack Miller. “There’s a lot of misinformation. If CBD worked for everything that people said it worked for, we wouldn’t need another medicine. It seems like the claims are that it will help everything. But really a lot more research needs to be done.”
The new cannabis certificate programs instruct healthcare professionals on the workings of the endocannabinoid system, how it affects the human body, and how to prescribe the drug.
Stefanie Gaines, one of the first students to take the course, who is excited about adding marijuana-based treatments to her acupuncture practice, said, “I think the future is looking awesome for medical cannabis.”
