Inches and Pounds are Gone with Qigong

Many dieters suffer from the weight loss/weight gain roller coaster because the very act of dieting conflicts with what their body needs and wants. They often drastically alter their eating habits without looking into the real problems of what they eat and how often they eat. What’s the answer? Is there a method, solution, or technique that can help reduce weight and improve your overall well being? There is: qigong. In fact, qigong has been discussed at length on the Oprah Winfrey show as the best longevity exercise.

Qigong as an Alternative Approach to Weight Management

The self-healing techniques of qigong are widely practiced in China and have been known to improve digestion and overall health. In fact, here in the U.S., the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine has recognized its effectiveness in maintaining long-term weight loss. According to Zou Jijun, vice president and secretary general of Chinese Health Qigong Association (CHQA), health qigong is a gem of Chinese traditional culture.

Qigong offers dieters a solution that is both simple to maintain and very effective. This is because qigong encourages people to examine their body functions and how it regulates itself, allowing them to gain control of their weight and health. The technique involves a few basic daily exercises that work to enhance the body’s rate of digestion while effectively raising its metabolism. Qigong begins with a series of simple exercises that unite the critical elements needed to achieve healthy, lasting weight loss. In essence, it brings together the workings of mind, breath and movement to unify and cleanse the body’s life force, or qi. It is when the body has achieved this balanced qi that the body’s systems can finally harmonize to improve both digestion and metabolism.

How Qigong Enhances Digestion and Metabolism

By practicing the techniques of qigong, people discard the conventional eat/starve system that places the body in a nutritional seesaw for a more holistic approach that works to bring into balance the mind, breath, gravity, posture, and emotions. Qigong recognizes that the digestive system is tied to many internal and external factors. The exercises that characterize qigong act to accelerate and improve digestion. Many people in today’s kinetic fast-food society do not efficiently digest their food. Meals often simply stagnate in the intestines, which can produce indigestion, gas, and other problems. Performing qigong exercises after meals can help speed digestion. The result is effective weight loss without the ups and downs of conventional dieting. With qigong, it is possible to achieve more than weight loss – a discovery of the richest kind of life.
