No pronoun preference

A native of New York City, William Casalaina was registered in one of the first classes at Pacific College in September of 1993. He graduated from Fordham University in the Bronx in 1980, the Swedish Institute (massage) in 1991 and Pacific College (then Pacific Institute) in 1997, earning a Bachelor of Arts, degree in massage therapy and Master of Science in Acupuncture. In 2014 he earned a Master’s of Higher Education Administration from Baruch College. He joined the faculty of Pacific College in 2000, and over the years has taught in the clinic and several practical and didactic classes in both the master’s program and the AOS/massage program. In the past he served as the Chair of Clinical Practice, Chair of Classical Chinese Medicine Department, Chair of the Oriental Medicine Department, Faculty Governance Chair and until December of 2019, Director of Education. Additionally, in May of 2001, Mr. Casalaina started supervising in the clinic and teaching a variety of courses at the Swedish College of Acupuncture where he served as the Chair of the Clinic and Clinical Skills departments in 2009 and 2010.

He was a founding board member of the now disbanded New York Acupuncture Coalition in 2002 and was a board member of the Acupuncture Society of New York (ASNY) in 2007 and 2008.

He has coauthored several published researched studies and other documents through the years.

He is certified by the NCCAOM in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbology and has studied homeopathy extensively. Mr. Casalaina has retired from a 20-year-long private practice as of 2018 and from his 10-year-long administrative responsibilities as of 2019.  He is currently an adjunct Assistant Professor at Pacific College teaching in the AOS/Massage Program.
