Pacific College Job Announcement – Building Facilities Associate – San Diego Campus

Pacific College of Health and Science is hiring for the position of full-time Building Facilities Associate (BFA) at our San Diego campus. This position is an onsite position.

General Job Summary:

The Building Facilities Associate assists the Senior Facilities Technician (SFT) by maintaining the College campus facility which includes 2 buildings. Tasks include setting up/breaking down classrooms, supply inventory and distribution, event setup/breakdown, bathroom maintenance, cleaning and general daily facility needs.

Essential Functions:

Classroom Setup:

  • Setup/breakdown of chairs, tables, podiums, etc.
  • Wiping down and cleaning dry erase boards, mirrors, treatment tables, etc.
  • Other various tasks to help ensure the smooth functioning of instruction in the classrooms.
  • Restocking classrooms based on needs.

 Event Coordination:

  • Manage incoming requests from event hosts.
  • Setup/breakdown of chairs, tables, podiums, etc.
  • Providing needed resources such as power strips, extension cords, etc.

 Supply Management:

  • Organize inventory in supply closets
  • Distribute supplies to janitorial closets and classrooms
  • Communicate any supply needs to SFT
  • Report any inventory losses to SFT

 Bathroom Maintenance:

  • Maintain general cleanliness of bathrooms
  • Restock supplies as needed

 Facility Maintenance:

  • Maintain general cleanliness of facility outside & inside
  • Maintain general cleanliness of kitchen/lounges including appliances, water coolers, sinks and countertops, etc.
  • Restock supplies as needed
  • Empty trash/recycling as needed
  • Responding to immediate needs such as spills, safety hazards, etc.
  • Special projects as needed

Building Security:

  • Ensure building security by monitoring entry points and reporting any concerns immediately to the SFT & Campus Director
  • Monitor building for security breaches such as broken windows, unlocked doors during non-class times, etc. and report any issues to SFT and Campus Director
  • Report any suspicious activities to SFT and Campus Director
  • Monitor/Secure gated outdoor trash/recycling bin area

Minimum/Required Qualifications:

  • Must have a High School diploma or equivalency
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning and maintenance processes and methods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Effective communication and cooperation with students, staff, faculty, and administration
  • Reliable, honest, and acts in a professional manner
  • Ability to troubleshoot and create solutions
  • Ability to work in a team, as well as independently

Work Environment

This position requires active participation, stamina, and an ability to stand for long periods of time. The Building Facilities Associate needs to be able to lift up to 50 pounds. The BFA will have a personal workspace to store any materials and organize their projects. The BFA will be asked to accommodate needs from two separate buildings and will require the BFA to remain flexible and timely.

Salary Range: $19.00 – $21.00 per hour
