The Pacific College of Health and Science Massage Therapist/Asian Bodywork Certificate program has been specially designed to offer you a well-rounded education covering both Western and Eastern bodywork modalities.

The Massage Therapist/Asian Bodywork Certificate will help you stand out against fellow massage therapists with clients and prospective employers. This program thoroughly covers Chinese medical theory, tui na, and the development of the student’s ability to understand the causes and symptoms of disease. This ability will allow Pacific College massage practitioners to customize their approach to each client’s individual needs. Asian bodywork therapy has grown into a recognized specialty supported by the American Organization of Bodywork Therapies of Asia (AOBTA) and certified by the National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). Students in this program receive an introduction to the valuable theories of Chinese medicine and specialize in a multitude of Asian bodywork therapies, including tui na, shiatsu, lomi lomi, and others.

The Asian bodywork therapy certification is a 36-unit program of theory and clinical practice that meets the requirements for certification by the National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). Additionally, for those seeking flexibility in their learning journey, there are options for massage certification online. The program also meets the requirements for California certification and the Massage Board License Exam (MBLEx). Graduates are also eligible for membership in the American Organization of Bodywork Therapies of Asia (AOBTA) and can go on to pursue massage therapy degrees.

Graduates of the Massage Therapist/Asian Bodywork certificate will:

  • Discuss and demonstrate professional ethics.
  • Demonstrate fundamental body therapy skills.
  • Know and demonstrate essential, hygienic considerations in the performance of massage.
  • Know and respect conditions contraindicating massage.
