Being in the ocean engenders a primordial connection with nature. There are many ways to induce the flow state, but perhaps none is more representative of the experience than surfing. The P3 surf experience encourages attendee participation at all levels of ocean experience. From an ocean swim to body surfing to body boarding to standing up on the board, there will be opportunities for everyone to learn and to enjoy. Even if you are an experienced surfer, we’d love to have you join us for this first-of-its-kind conference experience. We will start with a safety and equipment orientation on Friday and then hit the rejuvenating waters of the Pacific Ocean on Saturday.
The first pillar of the Wim Hof method is breathing. We’re always breathing, yet we’re often unaware of its tremendous potential. Heightened oxygen levels hold a treasure trove of benefits, and the specialized breathing technique of the Wim Hof Method unearths them all: more energy, reduced stress levels, and an augmented immune response that swiftly deals with pathogens. Dr. Trish Smith, one of the first certified Wim Hof trainers, will lead a group session each morning.
The cold becomes your warm friend and one of the three pillars of the Wim Hof method. Appropriate exposure to the cold starts a cascade of health benefits, including the buildup of brown adipose tissue and resultant fat loss, reduced inflammation that facilitates a fortified immune system, balanced hormone levels, improved sleep quality, and the production of endorphins, the feel–good chemicals in the brain that naturally elevate your mood. Dr. Trish Smith, one of the first certified Wim Hof trainers, will support and guide participants’ exposure to this cold therapy.
Qigong is a traditional Chinese wellness practice. Qigong incorporates slow, meditative, dance-like motions. A combination of movement, the flow of breath, and stilling of the mind activate the natural self-regulatory, self-healing capacity.
The practice of Qigong has long been associated with enhanced performance and optimal health. The peak state achieved through the practice of Qigong is often described by the Chinese words wu wei, effortless action. The state of effortless action is functionally similar, if not identical, to the neurophysiological description of flow state. You’ll have the opportunity to experience a different style of Qigong each morning of the P3 event.
Heart Rate Variability (HRV) has been scientifically validated as the most reliable, non-invasive proxy for determining the status and resiliency of the autonomic nervous system and cardiovascular system. Providing data to inform athletic recovery and stress resiliency, HRV is now integrated into most consumer wearable technologies. Accessibility to reliable and valid measurements of HRV enables health and fitness enthusiasts to tailor personal plans of action to regulate the human stress response. In return, this will yield better recovery outcomes, reduce injury, enhance resiliency to stress, and prime the body for peak performance.
Dr. Jay T. Wiles, one of the world‘s leading experts in heart rate variability training, will lead daily group HRV sessions. Participants will wear a sensor connected to an app that provides easily understandable heart rate variability analytics. You will learn how to modify your HRV using various techniques, such as mindfulness and breathing. By tracking and regulating your stress response, you will be able to directly experience the objective and subjective changes in stress resilience.
Ear acupuncture (the gentle stimulation of acupuncture points on the ear) is commonly utilized for stress relief, rejuvenation, and general feelings of well-being. Points on the ear can be used to treat a wide variety of conditions in the body as well as for health maintenance and performance enhancement. Research on ear acupuncture shows that it stimulates a flood of beneficial neurochemicals that are associated with flow states of consciousness and the relaxation response. A simple, safe ear acupuncture session is a great way for participants to enter the flow state or deep relaxation with no effort on their part. Each afternoon during the long lunch break, you will have an opportunity to experience ear acupuncture in a comfortable group setting.
