Pacific College Alumni Profile - Franco Garritano

Franco Garritano has been studying and practicing integrative medicine since 1996. Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Franco completed a degree in Medical Massage Therapy and Shiatsu at the Swedish Institute of Health Sciences in New York. He then completed advanced courses in Western herbology at the Flynn's School of Herbology, also in New York City. Franco continued his studies in San Diego, where he completed a four-year Master's of Science degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine. Here he interned at UCSD, RIMAC center for sports medicine and San Diego Hospice. He also studied at Chengdu University and Hospital in China, where he concentrated on the treatment of pain and respiratory conditions.

Franco spent two years studying with Jeffrey Yuen. One area of intense study was Chinese Dietary Therapy. From 1998-2002, he apprenticed with Dr. Xi Qui, an acupuncturist and MD with over 40 years of experience. With Dr. Xi Qui, he immersed himself in the treatment of trauma, orthopedic and neurological conditions. During this time he maintained a busy practice at an integrative clinic with physicians, acupuncturists, and chiropractors. Franco also served as the manager of the integrative medical department at the same clinic.

In his practice, Franco combines acupuncture and massage therapy techniques, movement therapies, stretching and exercise. He also prescribes Western and Chinese herbal medicine, supplements and dietary therapy. Currently his areas of focus include the treatment of pain, orthopedic- neurological conditions, men's health and matters pertaining to diet and digestion. He is located in San Francisco, CA.
