  Pacific Volunteers at Gay Pride

For the first time, Pacific College participated in San Diego's annual Lesbian & Gay Pride celebration held in the city's Balboa Park. In addition to providing information on Chinese medicine and Pacific's programs, student volunteers provided free massage and acupuncture diagnosis to the event's attendees. Pacific volunteers treated over 170 people during the course of the two-day event.

Lesbian & Gay Pride is one of the many community outreach opportunities the college uses to educate the public on the health benefits of Chinese medicine and to promote its affordable community clinic. Student volunteers get the opportunity to interact with the public and promote themselves as practitioners while gaining valuable practice-building experience.

In its 27th year, the San Diego Lesbian & Gay Pride celebration drew an estimated 50,000 people. With over 200 exhibitors, live music, food, and a parade, this event is one of the largest and most colorful in San Diego.
