Pacific Grad Wins EdFund Contest
Pacific College graduate Kristen Lohman was one of 12 winners in a national photography contest sponsored by EdFund, a student loan-guaranteeing agency that services colleges and universities nationwide. In past years EdFund has showcased professional illustrations of campus life in their calendar. This year, however, the organization decided to solicit the work of students that illustrated the theme "College Life in Black & White." Nearly 200 entries were submitted to the contest. The 12 winning entries were submitted by six men and six women ranging in age from 20 to 55, who (at the time of the contest) attended a cross-section of post-secondary institutions: public and private colleges, universities and proprietary schools. The winners received a $1,000 cash prize in addition to portfolio copies of the calendar. The upper panel of each month showcases one of the winning photographs, a profile of the artist, and a comment from one of the judges. The winners of the photography contest were selected by a five-person panel comprised of a professional photographer, a photography instructor, the principal of a graphic design firm, an EdFund executive and a college student. Copies of the 2002 calendar are distributed to Deans and Financial Aid Offices at colleges and universities nationwide.
